US Coast Guard Urges Labor Day Boat Safety

As you prepare for a fun Labor Day on the water, 321 Boat Club reminds you to keep safety in mind. The Associated Press reports that the U.S. Coast Guard is urging boaters across Florida to use caution as they enjoy  Florida’s waterways this Labor Day.

Coast Guard law enforcement crews will patrol the waterways over the long holiday weekend, conducting safety checks and watching for boaters who are intoxicated. At 321 Boat Club, you enjoy the benefit of picking up a vessel that has already undergone a safety check. It’s always a good idea, however, to give your boat a second check and to familiarize yourself with its features before heading out.

Officials also warn boaters to monitor weather broadcasts. The National Weather Service broadcasts marine weather forecasts regularly. The forecasts can be heard on Channels 1 through 5 on a VHF marine radio, or by checking the weather service’s website at http://www.nws.noaa.gov.
